Since 2005, the Council’s Membership has grown from 14 to more than 440 organisations committed to advancing responsible jewellery practices.
Council Members are grouped into forums representing different parts of the diamond, gold and platinum group metals jewellery supply chain. All Commercial Members are now working towards achieving RJC Certification since the launch of the system in 2009.
Certification under the RJC system demonstrates that the Member’s business practices conform to RJC’s Code of Practices for business ethics, human rights, social and environmental performance. Certified Members have the benefit of recognition against an international certification system, supporting their own reputations and enhancing consumer confidence in the jewellery supply chain more generally.
Trade Associations are not Commercial Members and are thus exempt from Certification requirements. Supporters and Friends are not Members of the RJC.
