The Fairtrade Labelling Organisation (FLO) and Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) have announced an historic gold partnership and published Fairtrade / Fairmined standards for gold from artisanal and small scale mining (and associated precious metals). Information and standards documents are available on the ARM website. The RJC has contributed to the ARM/FLO standards development process through reviews and inputs on draft standards.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Mining and Metals Sector Supplement (MMSS) has now been formally launched and is available for download from the GRI website. Under the RJC Code of Practices (COP 4.6), RJC Members with Mining Facilities need to report annually on their sustainability performance using the GRI Guidelines and the Mining and Metals Sector Supplement.

The RJC conducted six workshops in Mumbai and Surat on March 2-4 for Members, auditors and interested parties. More than 150 representatives of the Indian industry and associated service providers participated. The workshops were an opportunity to present the RJC system in detail and respond to queries about implementation in India. .
