As a child, Dagmar Kraemer dreamed of becoming a goldsmith. Although her career first led her into the fashion industry, her passion for jewellery never faded. After many years of experience across the fashion and jewellery sectors, she fulfilled her lifelong dream by founding fejn jewelry in 2019. Today, she combines her expertise with a clear vision: creating timeless, responsibly made jewellery for modern women who value both style and conscious choices.
What motivated you to join the RJC?
At fejn, responsibility has never been a trend—it has always been part of who we are. Joining the Responsible Jewellery Council was a natural next step because we wanted an independent way to demonstrate that our actions truly reflect our values.
For us, the certification is not just about meeting standards. It’s about continuously reviewing our processes, strengthening transparency across our supply chain, and holding ourselves accountable.
We believe our customers deserve to know that when we talk about responsible jewellery, those words are backed by internationally recognised standards. Trust is built through transparency, not promises.
What do you hope to achieve as a member?
Sustainability is one of the foundations of fejn, and becoming an RJC member helped us continue building and growing on that foundation with clear guidelines and ongoing improvement.
The jewellery industry is constantly evolving, and we believe responsible business should evolve with it. We see our RJC membership as a commitment to keep learning, improving and challenging ourselves every day.
Most importantly, we hope it gives our customers even greater confidence when choosing fejn.
Are you working on any exciting projects right now?
Absolutely. We’re continuously evolving our collections to reflect how people want to wear jewellery today while staying true to our minimalist design philosophy. Following collaborations like our recent capsule collection with a well-known German designer, we’re currently working on several exciting projects that we can’t reveal just yet—but we’re looking forward to sharing them soon.
For us, every new collection starts with the same question: Will this still feel relevant years from now? Our goal is to create jewellery that feels modern today—and just as meaningful many years from now.
What’s the most rewarding part of working in the jewellery industry?
Jewellery is incredibly emotional. People wear it to celebrate milestones, remember loved ones or simply express who they are. Knowing that a piece we designed may become part of someone’s personal story is something very special. Jewellery may be small, but the memories it carries can last a lifetime.
At the same time, working with precious, durable materials reminds us of the responsibility we have as a brand. These materials deserve to be treated with care and respect throughout the entire value chain.

How has RJC membership influenced your approach to responsible business?
The RJC certification process has been much more than a certification for us—it has been a framework for building fejn as a responsible business from the very beginning.
As a small company, the RJC guidelines gave us a clear direction and helped us understand where responsibility truly matters across the entire value chain. Through the audits, the conversations and the expertise of the RJC team, we were able to integrate sustainable thinking into our structures at an early stage—from sourcing and supplier relationships to internal processes and decision-making. Responsible business isn’t built overnight—it’s built detail by detail.
Rather than simply validating what we were already doing, the process helped us grow. It taught us to pay attention to the details because that’s where lasting impact is created.
Looking back, growing alongside the RJC has been a real advantage for us, and we believe it’s an especially valuable opportunity for smaller brands. The framework doesn’t just set standards; it gives you practical guidance and helps embed responsibility into your business in a way that creates long-term value.
Where do you see the future of responsible jewellery heading?
I believe responsibility will become an essential part of every jewellery brand—not something that sets you apart, but something customers rightfully expect.
Consumers are asking better questions, and that’s a positive development for the entire industry. Transparency, traceability and long-lasting quality will continue to shape the future of jewellery. The future of jewellery isn’t just about beautiful design—it’s about beautiful responsibility.
We’re proud that, together with the Responsible Jewellery Council, fejn is contributing to that future.
