Facets Of The Future – The Aliprandini Family

Facets Of The Future

In 2026, we are focusing on the passionate individuals shaping the future of our industry across the entire supply chain, from those carrying forward family legacies to those just starting out in their careers. We are shining a spotlight on the stories, people and cultures that are facets shaping the future of our industry, the “facets of the future.”

What motivated Pino Aliprandini SA to join the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC)?

Over 20 years of existence and dedicated work, the RJC has succeeded in its mission: bringing together committed stakeholders and working collectively in a spirit of transparency and shared responsibility. These values strongly resonate with Pino Aliprandini SA. What particularly touched us, however, is the RJC’s ambition, among its many large-scale missions, to demonstrate that technological innovation is a frequently overlooked yet essential stage in the jewellery production process.

Every day, through our many partnerships, our company demonstrates that surface treatments and chemical processes make a decisive contribution to quality, consistency of results, and more responsible manufacturing. Mastering stable and reproducible processes shows that “behind-the-scenes” innovation plays a key role in creating sustainable value throughout the jewellery supply chain.

The RJC provides us with a recognised framework to structure and continuously improve our commitments, while strengthening the confidence of our international clients and technological partners.

Which key issues do you particularly wish to promote through your engagement with the RJC?

At Pino Aliprandini SA, responsible practices are seen as drivers of quality, trust, and resilience for the industry.

For us, sustainability is a process of continuous improvement. To this end, we have strengthened our practices in line with international standards such as those of the RJC, particularly in management and transparency, while optimising the efficiency of our operations to ensure process stability.

For our distributors and end customers, the focus is now on integrating and aligning supply chain strategy with the company’s overall strategy, while reinforcing supply chain resilience in the face of global challenges and risks.

Through our involvement with the RJC, we affirm our identity as a reliable Swiss partner, backed by 50 years of technical expertise and recognised for the quality of our products and our innovative know-how.

What are the key strengths of Pino Aliprandini SA that you wish to highlight?

First and foremost, the foundations on which the company has been built since its establishment in Geneva in 1977. In a city that respects tradition and the environment, we have developed technical expertise whose hallmark is a constant pursuit of innovation.

Pino Aliprandini SA is also the story of a man—a true pioneer in the surface treatment industry. Reluctantly perhaps, Pino Aliprandini has become a legend in the jewellery world. Although he has always preferred to remain behind the scenes, as inventors often do, his innovations have helped redefine industry standards. His methods and vision are a benchmark in our profession.

Christian, his son, spent 25 years learning and working alongside his father. Today, he guides clients on their most ambitious projects around the world. Rooted in the heart of Geneva, our family business is now carried forward by its second generation.

What concrete actions have you implemented in terms of sustainability?

Sustainability has been at the heart of our vision and our company’s commitment since 1977—long before the creation of the RJC. Concretely, for half a century we have been dedicated to developing unique precious metal alloy coating processes without the use of toxic chemicals. Initially cadmium-free, we later succeeded in completely eliminating cyanide while maintaining performance and environmental responsibility.

We offer modern solutions and strategies such as Acqua-Series, a new range of electroplating baths capable of producing 2N, 5N, and white gold without cyanide, fully compliant with REACH and RoHS regulations. These products deliver stable and safe processes, ensuring efficient plating for our clients while improving working conditions and operator health and safety through the elimination of toxic substances.

Our manufacturing facility has been cited as a reference in the report Cyanide‑free Gold Plating Solutions: Market Trends and Opportunities, 2025–2030.

In addition, in a context of price volatility and recent increases, precious metal recycling is not merely a sourcing strategy— it is a supply chain of its own, requiring rigorous management of quality, logistics, and costs. Our laboratory offers a range of alternative solutions to address these challenges. We use advanced electroforming techniques to reduce material consumption, design lightweight hollow jewellery to preserve aesthetics while minimising metal usage and apply precise surface treatments to ensure consistent quality of recycled metals.

What is the unique value proposition of Pino Aliprandini SA in surface treatments and chemistry?

Our strength lies in complete mastery of surface treatments and applied chemistry. This is evidenced by the numerous patents filed by the company, representing significant advances for the industry.

Our most recent development, at the forefront of innovation, focuses on platinum electroforming, achieving an exceptionally thin thickness previously unimaginable, combined with excellent mechanical resistance.

What role can RJC members play in the future of the jewellery industry and What role does PA SA hope to play in this transformation?

Technical know-how forms the foundation of the future of jewellery and watchmaking. It is essential that both young people and professionals understand the materials they work with—not only metal composition, but also the importance of every stage in the process.

Each layer applied during surface treatment, as well as the electroforming process, plays a decisive role in the final quality, durability, and performance of a piece of jewellery. It is estimated that 40% of these professions are linked to decoration of pieces, highlighting the importance of this specialty within the sector.

Talent retention and training in specialised professions are also major challenges. These trades require strong technical skills, curiosity, versatility, the ability to follow strict protocols, and the capacity to develop a holistic view of the product.

Pino Aliprandini SA aims to actively participate in this dynamic by sharing its expertise and pursuing an exemplary approach. As an RJC member, we seek to contribute to raising industry standards and to demonstrate that responsibility, sustainability, and performance go hand in hand.

What should be remembered about Pino Aliprandini SA as a family-owned company?

75% percent of Switzerland’s economic wealth comes from SMEs like ours. Pino Aliprandini SA is a family business guided by a long-term vision, built on trust, continuity, and a strong sense of responsibility. This approach fosters personalised, lasting relationships and controlled growth. Beyond technical excellence, our company stands out for its highly personalised service and human-centered approach. There is a need to humanise an activity that may appear highly scientific. Moreover, in an increasingly anxiety-inducing context, the human element is more welcome than ever—it ensures attentive listening and support that clients truly appreciate.
